A Dizzying (yet rewarding) Merry-Go-Round of Roles

Wake early, because there's still a huge stack of papers that need to be graded before the scheduled day starts:

Role: Human Being, Task: Exercise by swimming at the Nat,
Role: Mentor (type), Task: Walk students through the process of developing digital media stories,
Role: Faculty Dude, Task: Process Documentary film with students
Role: Dept Member, Task: Outline curriculum description and job description with colleagues
Role: Faculty (again) Task: Repeat Task 3, Only Make It Feel Fresh!
Role: Faculty Member, Task: Congratulate a Newly Hooded Colleague and hobnob at her reception, invent event-appropriate chatter that acknowledges and avoids political questions with republican colleagues,
Role: Faculty (still), Task: Make Aristotle's Rhetorical Proofs palatable, relevant and useable for First Year Students,
Role: Faculty (again!) Task: Engage Film students in vigorous conversation even though you increasingly suspect that they took this class because they're best at sitting in a dark room and enjoying *watching* the film -- NOT necessarily chattering about it later....
Role: Dad, Task: Meet kids off of the bus, chatter about the day, get them transitioned to hanging out with Aaron for an hour,
Role: Faculty Member, Task: try to make sense out of unruly email inbox, the rate at which these things multilply seems dizzying,
Role: Dad, Task: Moderate arguments on the way home and transition to a peaceful dinner-prep time,
Role: Domestic Manager, Task: Make palatable dinner,
Role: Dad / Partner (? barely. are we allowed to talk to each other?) Task: Romp on the living room floor for 20 minutes and then move romp outdoors for a one-on-three soccer match,
Role: Mentor, Task: Walk students through the process of developing digital media stories.

Wait a second (!) haven't we been here before (?), wasn't I supposed to get another nice swim in there?
