
Despite visitations by mice atop my tent and plopping tree frogs, the overall impression of sleeping in the woods (once I found a way to curl my body round the root and brace myself against the tent wall so I didn't slide down the gentle slope back ONto the root) was peaceful and serene. While I wrote a solid ten pages in the woods, I decided that the local marina (picnic table and bench), public library and sandy shores of Lake Huron were more hospitable to longhand writing than a low-slung lawn chair in the (mosquito-infested) woods.
