Because the end-of-summer-malaise was crashing into the feelings of why-is-everyone-so-stressed-around-here-?, Jaelyn and Addison needed a change of scenery; I took them to a state park we had never visited before and we were delighted to find a little lake surrounded by woods with hiking trails and rental boats, where we hiked and boated for two and a half hours. Late at night Gary & I caught up round a backyard fire after the kids were all in bed.
