When Mom & Dad Came To Town

My parents came to town for their bi-annual 36 hour visit, and we usually take the opportunity to just sit on couches and talk for hours catching up, but last night for many reasons -- my father ended up marching in a parade holding a speckled chicken on a stick just behind a spider-stilt-walker, we found ourselves in the front row of a rockabilly-punk band's street concert & then in the back row of a crowded art gallery listening to a poetry slam, and then after getting the kids in bed, I took my dad to a comedy-improv performance until midnight. I'm not sure it was exactly the appropriate way to entertain one's 65 year old parents, but at least it was a big adventure.
